During the early morning hours of June 6, 1944, a desperate
struggle took place for control of a small bridge over the
Merderet River. Although not as well known or as often
simulated as the northern Bridge at la Fière, the fighting was
every bit as fierce. This book chronicles the exploits of Lt. Col
Ostberg and his rag-tag band of 82nd airborne troopers as they
proceed to "seize the town and the bridge" of Chef-du-Pont.
